CowBlogger.com Going In New Direction

CowBlogger.com was started to provide info and resources to people who simply put “Wanted To Make Money” that was our goal and we are sticking to it.

Our blog kind of dropped off the face of the earth but it looks like a few of you have been sticking around. I just paid off Shane Hudson who helped get this blog on its feet because I am going to take it in a new direction that I think everyone will enjoy.

I will basically be redoing the design of the site with some special stuff and when that’s done I will update this blog once again. Once I do that I will be posting new great content 2 times per week, most likely on Tuesday and on Friday for all those who are wondering.

I am also going to try and focus on gaining RSS subs as well as comments on this blog, to do that I will be running some very cool contests and I will be offering some insane prize packs!

Not only that but I have a lineup of 10 ebooks I plan to release to subscribers so be sure and subscribe if your not already. I hope you all like the new changes when I implement them and be sure to tell your friends about this blog!

Septembers Big Post

Septembers Big Post is rather small this time. As you may of read in my recent post How Often Do You Post? I wrote that a “Big Post” every month is a good way of posting all the little posts that you write but are not good enough for their own post. Well this time it did not work, as I was extremely busy during September and only managed to write one extra post that I did not post here. So this Big Post will only have one post.. but it will do as it shows how the Big Post idea works.

What Is Waiting Around The Corner?

How many of you have been so tired at waiting for your blog to grow that you have given up or at least wanted to? As I said in my last post, I have felt like this many times. But on last Friday night, I realised something through a little story.

On Friday 19th September I went to see Nickleback at the O2 Arena in London, it was one of the best nights of my life. It was the first and only concert I have been to so far, but my dad and his partner saw them once before preforming as a support band to Bon Jovi. It was after that tour that they started becoming very well known, in the United Kingdom at least, and it was because they won a contest to support Bon Jovi that this happened. What amazed me was they started preforming during the 1990’s.

I would never of had this amount of patience, but it shows that if you wait then something will come along. Next time you are struggling to have the patience or determination to keep going, just remember this and think of what may be around the corner.

20th September 2008

As I have said already, this post was very small but hopefully it taught you the basics of what a “Big” Post is. Also hopefully the mini post (What Is Waiting Around The Corner) got you thinking like it made myself think. It really is amazing how much more successful you can be if you wait, though hopefully for you it will not take so long!

What is a Discipline?

If you are like me, and read a few too many fantasy books, then you may be thinking along the lines of Healer, Warrior and Alchemist. This got me thinking, what does it really mean? And how can it be used in what we do? After some research I found many different definitions for the word, but none I quite agree with.

  1. Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behaviour especially training that produces moral or mental improvement.
  2. Controlled behavior resulting from disciplinary training; self-control.
  3. Control obtained by enforcing compliance or order.
  4. A systematic method to obtain obedience: a military discipline.
  5. A state of order based on submission to rules and authority: a teacher who demanded discipline in the classroom.
  6. Punishment intended to correct or train.
  7. A set of rules or methods, as those regulating the practice of a church or monastic order.
  8. A branch of knowledge or teaching.

Extract from http://www.answers.com/topic/discipline

Now please correct me if I am wrong but I believe that discipline (or at least self-discipline) should be defined as “A way of life”. So surely Blogging, Web Design, Programming and such are all types of disciplines? I would say this is correct. So what discipline should I follow, as I have experience in all three of these?

When I think of the word Discipline I always think of a specialist, or a master, that is very skilled with one aspect of life. For example, an experienced athlete as most train all day everyday no matter what the weather is like. So does this mean I should focus on one subject and master it? All my life I have wanted to be able to cover as many areas as I can, and I believe I have a fairly wide coverage already.

Also, I like randomness in life so that I do not get bored and am always busy. Is it true that if I focus on one thing and do it everyday that I would get bored easily and not achieve as much as I could otherwise? I do not know, it is a subject that has been confusing me for almost a year and I do not know what to do.

So the reason that I posted this is to open your minds even further and see what you believe. Please post your beliefs about this subject and which route to take. It is a subject that can never have a correct answer, but remember, it cannot have a wrong one either.

How Often Do You Post?

This week I was asked a question which I decided was so important that I should post it. I do not actually know who asked this question, so if you are the person that asked please comment.

I have been posting everyday but am quickly writing worse and worse posts. The quality keeps going downhill.. am I doing something wrong? You do not post to CowBlogger everyday, why is this?

This is actually a question that I remember asking in the past, but no one answered. So this time I am going to make sure it is answered and hopefully many people get to read it.

Firstly, to write on a blog you need to know what you are talking about. So if your new to the blogging industry, or even more so the niche that you are talking about, then naturally you will have less experience to talk about. It is a problem that most people find when they start their first blog, I know I certainly struggled a lot. Which is good. Yes you heard me right, struggling is very good as it does improve your experiences and your learning.

What is even better is that I can give you tips from my experience which may prevent you from going through it too.

  • Write a post everyday, post every other - Well this is not always true but it does help. If you write a post everyday it will start to drastically improve your writing skills. The problem is, you will find with that is you will soon run out of ideas which is why I said to post every other day. Another good reason for writing everyday but posting every other is that it will help you learn how to stockpile.
  • Stockpiling - Every blogger that ever existed had days where he or she had a total mind freeze. This is where stockpiling is most useful as you can just use an old post instead of writing a new one. If you need help with stockpiling then read Shannon’s post about it, Stockpiling For Bloggers Block it helped me a lot! Stockpiling is also the best thing to do for going on holiday, as you can use the posts from the stockpile and set them on a sceduled timer.
  • The Big Post - Well I am sure you have written a fair few posts which just are not good enough or long enough to post? I often have this problem, so what I have done in the past and also have planned for this blog is to have one post every week or month just filled with all the posts I have done in that time which were not good enough for their own posts. It works.
  • The List Of Remembrance - Everyone tends to come up with ideas for blog posts when they are no where near their computer and often forget by the time they are. Believe it or not, many people find that they come up with their best ideas when their on the toilet. It is very strange how this works, but it does, so having a writing pad with you at all times helps to get those amazing ideas. I find it also happens while i am dreaming, and I forget it by the time I wake up!

Hopefully this will help you in the future and further your blogging knowledge. I believe this tips are very useful, and the first two especially are the key to successful blogging.

Exercise for Success

It is very important in life to be happy about who you are and how you feel about yourself is often reflected in your blog posts.

As you may know, I sold my last blog, Lonely Designs, for only $150 which is much less than I had hoped for. I let it go for this price because I thought it had been a failure and I wanted it to be successful. However, straight after I sold it I decided I was very wrong. I wanted to be successful and I am.

Now, you may be asking how I came to this conclusion. Basically, I wrote a list of everything that I do and have done in the past. This includes all of my personal achievements and failures. Here is an extract of my list.

  1. Friends and Family

    1. This is the most important part of anyone’s life and I am proud to have such good friends and family.

  2. School

    1. I have the estimated grades of the equivalent to about 10 GCSEs (including 1 BTEC)

  3. Open University

    1. I have a Certificate in Information Technology.

    2. I started Open University at the age of 12, the minimum age is 18

  4. Karate

  5. Blog

    1. I have wrote posts for people that I highly respect (Shannon Lilly, Michael Dunlop etc.)

    2. I have run my own blog which lasted 6 months, even though I nearly quit after the first week.

  6. Experience of hundreds of aspects of computing at a very young age

The whole list is actually quite long, and includes more failures than is in this extract. So, from just that simple exercise I have realised that I am successful even if I am not rich or famous.

I would love to see what everyone else has achieved, so why don’t you write your own list and post it here. This will show everyone that the readers of Cow Blogger are very successful. It will also show yourself have successful you are.
